Hey guys! Have you ever been to Siem Reap? Do you want to visit here on your next trip? Today I will give you some tips on where to go, where to stay and what to do during your stay in Siem Reap for the first time!
If Siem Reap is on your next bucket lists you are on the right place. I am quiet familiar with Siem Reap because we been here like ten times not only for tourism but to visit the kids at the orphanage. If this is your first time to visit Siem Reap you definitely need to visit the temples.
but of course there are other more temples in Siem Reap that you can visit;
Where to stay:
We normally stay in hotel every time that we visit Siem Reap first of all we need wifi in order for us to work. Second of all we like a relaxing and clean place to stay. We normally stay at
Angkor Place Resort and Spa
Prince d’Angkor Hotel & Spa
Sokha Hotels & Resorts
New Angkorland Hotel
Angkor Era Hotel
And many more! You can definitely find some hostels but we never stay there so I can’t advice any hostels.
Need to Experience:
You definitely need to see Tonle Sap if you truly want to experience Siem Reap. We been here like three or four times it’s very sad to see people lives but it’s the reality. People live on the boat and bathing with the same water every day! The water here is everything for them they bathe, wash their clothes, fishing, and even going to bathroom. Yeah imagine your life living in this situation? That’s why for me the first time I experience it I was telling myself that I am lucky to have a fresh water to drink and bathe. And that time I started to realize and be thankful of what I have in life. It change my life and perspective in life. So if you guys visit Siem Reap please come and visit the Tonle Sap and see how it is.
You need to go and see the Koulen II Restaurant, it’s a huge variety of a Khmer food plus it’s a buffet style and while watching the Khmer cultural show. It’s pretty neat to experience this it’s always packed so make sure you make your reservation before you come in!
Last but not the least YOU HAVE TO SEE the kids at the orphanage that we always go to. It’s the Sok’s Hope Foundation. The kids here are great! They are all sweet, respectfully, and the great thing about it is most of them speak English. It’s so much easier to communicate with them and that is why John and I have a strong relationship with them. We been here ten times and every time we come we always have fun hanging out with them! John hang out with the boys and I hang out with the girls. Our recent visit I got the opportunity to cook for them. I made some pancit (Filipino stir fry noodles) and lumpia (Filipino spring rolls) and everybody loves it! I assure you that you will have a blast and fall in love with them like we do! And plus if you want to do any of this tour/temples that I mention above you can set it up with the owner of this orphanage (Sok) because he is a tour guide. Isn’t that perfect? LOL. 🙂 🙂 🙂
What needs to bring:
US dollars (yes they like USD here!)
