How to Make Pan De Coco

Pan De Coco
Hey guys! Today I want to show you how to make Pan De Coco. This is one of Filipino’s favorite bread especially me. This bread is filled with sweetened coconut and very addicting!

You can buy Pan De Coco in the local “panaderya” or bakery. In my hometown there’s one nearby my house so every morning I ask my brother to buy fresh bread in there. Its perfect pair for coffee. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ its good for breakfast or “miryenda” also known as snack. Wow today’s topic you’re learning how to make Pan De Coco and few Filipino words huh? LOL. ๐Ÿ™‚

Alright guys let’s start how to make this yummy bread. Its very easy to make as long as you follow my guide. Here’s all you need.

For the dough:

  • 5 cups flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pack yeast
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter
  • salt

  • In a big bowl, combine the flour and yeast together. Set a side.
  • Place the milk, sugar, salt, and butter in a medium sauce pan. Basically you just want to warm up the milk and melt the butter.ย Don’t boil it!
  • Add the milk mixture into the flour mixture and add the eggs. Start mixing all this together until everything incorporated.
  • In a clean surface, place some flour and start kneading the dough until it form a smooth ball.
  • Transfer the dough into a greased bowl and cover it with plastic wrap. Let it rise for 2 hours until it doubled up the size.

While waiting for the dough to risen up. Let’s make the filling! ๐Ÿ™‚ Here’s all you need.

For the filling:

  • 2 cups shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp. water

  • In a medium sauce pan, mix all this ingredients together; coconut, brown sugar, butter and water. Cook this until it turned brown.
  • Set it aside and wait for itย to cool down before we start using it.

After we are done making the filling and the dough get doubled the size let’s start filling them!

  • Cut the dough into small pieces and I used a small rolling pin to flatten the dough and it makes it easier to filled them once they are flat.
  • Add 1 1/2 tbsp. of the filling into the dough and start sealing it. (I have the video of this process!)And continue filling the rest.
  • I made 21 small piecesย out of the dough. Let them rise again for another hour.
  • Mean while, pre heat the oven to 325 degree F.
  • After an hour brush them with some egg wash and bake them until golden brown.
  • Enjoy!

I love eating this bread while they’re hot. My husband always ask me how can you eat them they’re so hot! And even when I eat soup he always ask me that lol ๐Ÿ™‚
