How to Make Turon (Fried Plantain)

Hey guys, yesterday I made 5 pieces of turon but on this picture above there’s only four do you know why?

Yep, I couldn’t wait and I eat it without taking picture first LOL. That’s how excited I am yesterday! The rest just fried them with cinnamon sugar and they are de-licious!!! Turon are deep fried banana wrap in springroll wrapper,  you can buy and find this on the street in the Philippines with matching buko juice or coconut juice! Oh boy now I’m drooling LOL. 🙂  This are good for miryenda (snack) or dessert. You can served this with some ice cream or caramel sauce if you like. Back home you can find different variation of this like bananaque or fried bananas on the stick, maruya or banana fritters. Okay let’s get started and here’s all the recipe that you need. It’e very quick and easy to make!

  • 3 pieces ripe plantain or saging saba (the kind of banana that we use back home) peeled, sliced
  • lumpia or egg roll wrappers
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 tbsp cinnamon (cinnamon sugar)
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • jackfruit (optional)

  • Peel and roll the banana on the cinnamon sugar plate and make sure that the banana is well coated.
  • Place the banana coated with cinnamon sugar in the spring roll wrapper. Fold and seal the spring roll wrapper with water.
  • In a pan, heat the oil put in the wrapped banana and fry until it turned golden brown and the extra sugar sticks on wrapper.
  • Served it with ice cream and caramel sauce. Enjoy!

P.S – for the rest of the plantain I cut them diagonally and sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar and just fry them. So good! 🙂 🙂 🙂
