Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mont Royal is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and national shrine in Montreal, Quebec, home of Saint André Bessette and canonized in 2010. In 1904, Saint André Bessette C.S.C began the construction of Saint Joseph, his dream was to build on Mont Royal a chapel to dedicated to Saint Joseph. The planning for the basilica with a crypt church dates back to 1914 but was not finally finished until 1967. Father Paul Bellot, an architect, completed the dome of Saint Joseph’s Oratory between 1937-1939 and it is the third largest dome of its kind in the world.

The Saint Joseph’s Oratory is so beautiful inside and out. The architecture and every details of it are magnificent! I have a mixed feeling visiting the Saint Joseph’s Oratory and seeing the tomb of Saint André Bessette and especially his heart!

If you want to visit Montreal on your next trip I do recommend to go here! Here’s some of our photos during the trip.
