Dusit Zoo is Thailand's very first zoo and has been around for more than 65 years. It is located at Khao Din Park in Bangkok's Dusit District. It was built by King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) as his private garden adjacent to the royal palace. Covering the total area of 188,800 square meters. It is a perfect zoo in the middle of the city and it has more than 1,600 animals of domestic and international wildlife. This includes albino barking deer and white Bengal tigers. There's even a World War II underground shelter near the hippopotamus habitat.
We went there last week and it is really impressive the way they set up a man-made lake. At a very small fee you can enjoy boat peddling and feeding the fish at the same time! You can even bring your own food and have a picnic as there's plenty of shady gardens and benches. We saw a lot of people having a picnic with their family. The breeze was really nice too, but make sure you bring your umbrella just in case it might be rain or if you don't like the sun. Here are some of our pictures at the zoo!
